I had a chance to visit Sri Lanka as part of EAAFP Secretariat team for the Ramsar Pre-COP13 Asia Regional Meeting in Chilaw, Colombo.
It was an interesting meeting. Of course my job was taking photos during the meetings, but I also listened to country delegates’ presentations. I met some old and new friends as well.
The field trip was one of the best parts of this meeting. We decided to join the Wilpattu National Park trip to see the wildlife of Sri Lanka, and it is a Ramsar site.
No doubt, we chose the right trip to have managed to see wild elephant, langur, jackal, 3 deer species and reptiles. Also we saw a few species of birds, three of which were endemic to Sri Lanka.
My impression of Sri Lanka was a peaceful country with people friendly and always smiling. Hopefully I can visit again.
